CHICAGO (June 24, 2016) – United Airlines Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), and United Airlines today agreed to terms on a joint collective bargaining agreement for 25,000 Flight Attendants. The agreement was reached with oversight of National Mediation Board (NMB) Member Linda Puchala.
The parties will finalize language over the weekend and a tentative agreement is not final until approved by the directly elected leaders of the 25,000 Flight Attendants. The leaders will meet in special session on Monday and Tuesday next week.
AFA expressed appreciation for the assistance of NMB Member Linda Puchala and mediator Cathy McCann in working with the parties to reach agreement on terms for the joint contract.
What a long road to get to THIS point! I will be traveling to Chicago on Sunday for a Monday meeting of all pre-merger LECPs to review the terms. Once determined to be accepted as a TA by the joint MEC, details will be forthcoming.
On behalf of the Denver Council 9 officers (Chris, Zac, and from me) please know how very much we have appreciated the support of our many Days of Action and solidarity during this long journey. Reaching an agreement with management has been a direct result of the message that unity of purpose you have shown for your JNC. Thank YOU!
BUT our work is not over by any means. Please stay tuned for more details once the JNC has an opportunity to be briefed.
Again, thank YOU all for allowing me, along with Chris and Zac, to work with and for YOU on this important milestone.
Respectfully offered,
Ken
